Excellence in Governance

Excellence in Corporate Governance is a central aspect of Qatalum’s Management System.

Our highest governance authority is the Board of Directors, which has established several committees to assist with advisory and support functions. Qatalum has a robust Internal Audit group which reports directly to the Board/Board Audit Committee while Qatalum’s management also reports directly to the Board.

Ethical Practices
Qatalum is committed to conducting our affairs in a fair and transparent manner by adopting the highest standards of professionalism, honesty, integrity and ethical behavior. To reinforce our culture of ethics, a system of reporting any conflicts of interest or unethical behavior has been set up under the purview of the Internal Audit Department. Using this system, any employee or contractor can report on ethical issues directly via email or through a dedicated hotline.

Code of Conduct
Qatalum's Code of Conduct provides a set of expectations and guidelines to all those working for Qatalum. It applies to all individuals working at or for Qatalum, including Company directors, employees, secondees temporary personnel as well as Contractors and their personnel.

It enshrines our key values of Respect, Proactivity, Enthusiasm and Integrity. Employees and all those working for the company must always uphold the highest standards of integrity and personal conduct in our business and professional activities, and when dealing with colleagues, vendors, customers, contractors, government departments and the general public.

Bribery and Corruption
Corruption is dishonest or fraudulent conduct which can occur in a wide variety of activities. Corruption is often about money but also includes different types of favors, such as nepotism and supporting friends.

Qatalum does not tolerate corruption and bribery, whether direct or indirect. Employees shall not, in order to obtain or retain business or gain any other advantage in the conduct of business, offer, promise or give anything of value or an undue advantage to a public official or to any third party to influence such person to act or refrain from acting in relation to the performance of their duties. This applies regardless of whether the advantage is offered directly or through an intermediary.

Responsible Sourcing
Driven by our ambition to create a sustainable aluminium industry, Responsible Sourcing is extended through our entire supply chain echoing our sustainability goal on environment, social and governance to our suppliers, contractors and service providers. To this end, each of our suppliers and contractors are required to adhere to The Supplier Code of Conduct to mirror their commitment and undertakings to the Company’s values, vice versa for improvement and positive growth. Our Supply Chain Group conducts pre-screening of prospective suppliers as well as ongoing monitoring and review.

Looking into material stewardship we have established our Supply Chain Directive, Supplier Accommodation Guidelines, Evaluation of Raw materials and Suppliers procedure, well rooted on our ethical practices, code of conduct, HSEQ policy, and corporate social responsibility as our common expectation to individuals and companies we do business with.

We are also working to establish responsible sourcing from verified or certified suppliers, particular on our major raw materials, against internationally recognized standard like ASI.
