The Qatalum Production System (QPS) department hosted a dinner on 29th May to recognize team members for achieving the ISO/TS 16949 certification - the very first in Qatar.
Qatalum’s certification to ISO/TS 16949 was announced last month by the certifying body, Det Norske Veritas (DNV). Its’ importance cannot be overstated since it allows Qatalum to supply the global automotive industry with high-quality aluminium. In addition, it fulfills our strategic objective enhancing the Qatalum brand to be synonymous with quality and dependability and support another step to the country’s pursuit of industrial diversification, and the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Appreciation was extended to the project team and work members by the management, at a dinner held at Sharq Village and Spa. It also culminates the ISO/TS certification project in which Al-Maha Al Majid hosted the much-deserved thanks to everyone
A speech, ‘Lessons Learned’ was delivered by project head, Melmar Aquino. “The inadequate knowledge and understanding of requirements of the standard and not showing clear evidence on structured problem solving were the two key learning attributes - and can also be the potential failure modes in the next audit”. He emphasized further, “ISO/TS 16949 certification is a critical controlled risk; the fact that it can be suspended or withdrawn”.
Not only was the achievement highlighted additionally, Kurt Jan Nilsson presented ‘The Way Ahead’ saying, “The Qatalum Production System (QPS) is the principles we are supposed to apply to achieve our vision and mission and with which our certifying body, DNV, trust we will serve our customers in a continuously improving manner. Thus, deploying the Qatalum Production System (QPS) is not only an opportunity, it’s also an obligation to our stakeholders.”
CEO Tom Petter Johansen and COO Jan Peterlic provided the accolades to the dedicated project team members, who have been instrumental in achieving yet another milestone for Qatalum..
