Qatar Aluminium Limited Q.S.C (Qatalum) and Hydro Aluminium AS (Hydro) renewed sponsorship of Qatalum/Hydro Faculty Chair at the Center for Advanced Materials (CAM) - Qatar University (QU) for a period of another 3 years on Thursday,12 October 2017. The continuation was announced at a signing ceremony in the presence of Mr Khalid Mohamed Laram, CEO, Mr Olaf Wigstoel, COO, Dr Mariam Al-Ali AlMa'adeed, QU Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies and Dr Nasser Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, CAM Director. The extension of the agreement came in light of the hitherto successful cooperation between Qatalum, Hydro and QU to inform academic research while sharpening aluminium technical know-how, for the benefit of all parties.
Drs AlMa'adeed and Al-Nuaimi welcomed Qatalum delegation. They thanked Qatalum for the ongoing collaboration. They also highlighted in their respective speeches some of the achievements realised till date, and proposed ways of enhancing the relationship further.
On his part, Mr Laram highly commended the distinguished intellectual contributions being made by QU. He also welcomed Dr Aboubakr Moustafa Abdullah, wishing him continued success in his future endeavours.
Dr Abdullah was appointed as Qatalum/Hydro Chair Professor at CAM-QU. He sports nearly 30 years of outstanding experience, academically and professionally. His research and teaching expertise has spanned wide-ranging areas, and has been developed in several higher-education institutions and countries.
Qatalum continuous support to human and economic development is an integral part of its commitment to Qatar National Vision 2030. Renewing Qatalum/Hydro Chair sponsorship at QU is the latest episode in a series of partnerships with many educational organisations aimed at bridging the academia-industry gap through harnessing local talent.
