Qatalum presents at QDB seminar

QDB invited Qatalum to present on the smelter, its products and its facilitative role as a catalyst for downstream business looking to exploit growing aluminium consumption globally.

​The Aluminium Industry Seminars and Business Opportunities Training Seminar was hosted by the Qatar Development bank. The objective of the seminar was to facilitate aluminium producers and end users such as the auto industry to educate the audience made up of small to medium business interested in the downstream utilisation of aluminium. As a conduit to developing viable downstream opportunities, Qatalum was invited to present its credentials and illustrate its role as a premium aluminium producer.

The Seminar is being held as the Concorde Hotel – Doha from the 23 - 26 November. Other speakers presenting are QDB, Volkswagen and GOIC.

Nafal Al Hajri, Marketing and Sales Manager in the Supply Chain Group presented Qatalum, on the first day, as where aluminium begins its journey in Qatar. He presented the GCC’s ever increasing role as a global producer but also as a consumer of finished aluminium products in line with global aluminium consumption.

In the case of Qatar, several advantages for potential SME’s to start downstream activities were made relevant such as investment opportunities, security of metal supply, metal quality, product mix, technical support, scrap solutions and   advantageous pricing. With respect to the business interests present these advantages were available from Qatalum and the State of Qatar.

Ultimately the response from the audience was positive as the fledgling aluminium downstream industry has huge potential to exploit an ever increasing local and international market from a business base in Qatar.
