Representing Qatalum was Amir Farah, Head of Training and Development, HR and Administration receiving the award from Dr Sheikha Al Misnad, Qatar University President.
In order to achieve its mission to become a top global smelter, the knowledge base on which Qatalum relies is made up of highly educated and equally talented people. This base is nurtured and fulfilled through a strong educational policy within Qatalum enabling consistent and future growth of its young recruits.
On March 2nd, 2014 at the St Regis Hotel, Doha, the Employer's Recognition Ceremony was held to award efforts supporting the education sector in Qatar. Qatalum was nominated for its sponsorship of various events including the prominent efforts of providing a Professor's Chair to Qatar University - Chemical Engineering School which teaches Aluminium Technology. Since the inception of the sponsored Chair, Qatalum has recruited 7 national students who went through the program.
More than 200 employers from different educational and industrial sectors attended together with government and non-governmental companies.
Ahmed Salem Ahmed Al-Kuwari, Qatalum's Chief Administration Officer, HR and Administration expressed his team's efforts stating, "Our unwavering support to Qatar's educational sector lies in our belief that the young people of today can inspire change and become the leaders and thinkers of tomorrow."
The educational mandate put forward by Qatalum has a three part approach which is to strengthen the existing ties with the educational sector within Qatar, create awareness of the industry within Qatari society and attract young Qatari talent into the workforce at Qatalum.
