Qatalum, one of the world’s leading aluminium smelters, is pleased to announce it has received the Approval of Manufacturer Certificate in accordance with DNV GL rules for classification - Ships.
Qatalum’s Cast house and Laboratory for metal analysis were subject to the audit done by DNV for the company, and the company is now an approved manufacturer of Wrought Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys in accordance with DNV GL rules for classification – Ships.
The DNV GL approval confirms Qatalum been found in compliance with international standards, regulations and recognized DNV GL rules. The approval additionally reiterates the high quality and safety standards adhered to at the company. This accomplishment makes Qatalum the second company in the region, after Alba, certified to do so.
The new manufacturer certification, together with Qatalum’s decades-long experience and manufacturing processes at its world-class smelter, enables the company to extend its El products to another supply chain – the various tiers of the shipping supply chain – while consolidating its strong market presence. Qatalum’s customers can now supply their high-quality billets for marine applications such fast ferries, big catamarans, coast guard vessels among others.

This new certification comes closely upon the heels on the company attaining the Automotive Quality Management System - IATF 16949: 2016 Standard for its facility at Mesaieed Industrial City, Qatar. The IATF 16949:2016 is the industry's highest standard of quality management system for automotive suppliers globally, and with this certification Qatalum’s products extended into the automotive supply chain.
