The company has openly accepted the establishment of the Qatalum Functional Committee- HSE during the recently held Contractor HSSE Forum, last 11 October 2018, at the Al Ghazal Event Halls, Al Reem Club, Mesaieed.
This quarterly meeting was initiated by Qatalum, and has since been emulated and adapted in other related industries, as there is too seldom within enormous organizations the opportunity for a ‘global’ view of environmental health and safety challenges. This way, Qatalum believes, there is a regular and direct line of contact and communication between contractors- who have unique, on the ground perspective on all HSSE issues.
After a safety briefing and opening remarks by Acting CEO, Olaf Wigstoel, presentations were given on Qatalum and contractor HSE Performance, Contractor HSE Forum Improvement, Contractor HSSE Best Performance on Traffic and Pedestrian Safety and the Qatalum Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Said Olaf Wigstoel, “All contractors should take and implement the Qatalum CSR seriously. In addition, contractor management should ensure that employees are working according to Qatalum safety standards and are doing the right thing.”
In terms of the series of events held, the Contractor HSSE Forum has successfully achieved its goal of providing a platform between Qatalum and Contractor Management.
