(December 4, 2004) Hydro and Qatar Petroleum have signed an agreement to develop one of the world's largest aluminium plants in Qatar. Planned capacity will be 570,000 tonnes of primary aluminium in the first phase. Total project costs are estimated to USD 3 billion. Hydro's share of the investment will be around USD 1.5 billion.
