The campaign was conducted as part of the Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Campaign by the HSSE Department. All the necessary arrangements were in place at a mini health station set up by the Occupational Health section, to check the blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels of the employees and contractors of Qatalum.
136 people visited the mini station to have their health check-up. Of this, 99 were Qatalum employees while 37 were contractors.
Right from its inception, Qatalum has placed the mental and physical well-being of its employees at the top of its list of priorities. The company recognizes the need for providing periodic lifestyle check-ups to increase the awareness of the necessity of a healthy lifestyle, amongst its staff.
Speaking on the occasion, Deon Earle, HSSE Manager said, “The Healthy Lifestyle check-ups for employees is an initiative that caters to the significant number of employees with underlying medical conditions at Qatalum. By increasing the awareness of a healthy lifestyle, we can ensure that our employees are fit to work in the smelter.”
The campaign strengthened Qatalum’s commitment to providing a healthy working environment for its staff, and is in alignment with its goals for National Sports Day.
