Casthouse Group held its second Safety Delegates Workshop on 3 October, 2019 at the Training Centre.

Casthouse Group held its second Safety Delegates Workshop on 3 October, 2019 at the Training Centre. Facilitated by the Group HSE lead and led by the group manager, the workshop focused on what had been achieved by HSE and the way forward. The Casthouse management team, supervisors and safety delegates participated in the workshop.

Group Safety Delegate Isaac Donkor opened the session with a safety briefing while Casthouse Group Manager Egil Fredriksen welcomed participants, and was followed by Production Manager Asle Voll who delivered the opening remarks. The following presentations were made during the event: 'Pre-Start Task Analysis' (PSTA) by Isaac Donkor; 'Respiratory Protective Equipment' by Johnny Fernandez, 'Casthouse HSE Performance' by Egil Fredriksen, 'Life Saving Rule' by Richard Appiah, 'Casthouse HSE Program Implementation Review and Safe Zone' by Anu Thankachen.

Also included in the workshop were group discussions and case study discussions with a special focus on achieving zero vehicle and molten metal related incidents; and improvement in employee behavior especially during pit stripping. The teams demonstrated proactive involvement in all of the activities, and will thereby contribute towards attaining excellent performance in HSE.

At end of the session, participants received appreciation certificates for recognition of excellent commitment and steady contributions to Casthouse safety culture as Safety Delegate. Fredriksen made his closing remarks reinforcing the commitment and awareness required in going forward to achieve 'zero harm'.
