Qatalum welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Qatar Faculty Chair for a comprehensive site visit aimed at strengthening collaboration between academia and the aluminum industry on 02 February 2025. The visit provided a platform for knowledge exchange, discussions on research partnerships, and aligning academic expertise with industry needs.

The day commenced with a Safety Induction and Opening Meeting, where Dr. Shakoor and the Environment & Sustainability (E&S) team introduced Qatalum’s commitment to safety and Qatar University’s role in supporting environmental and sustainability initiatives. Following this, the delegation embarked on a plant tour alongside the E&S team, gaining firsthand insights into Qatalum’s advanced aluminum production processes, operational efficiency, and sustainability-driven initiatives.

Throughout the day, key discussions took place to align expectations and explore collaboration opportunities. The first session focused on Q&D Expectations from the Faculty Chair, where the Q&D Manager, E&S Manager, Sustainability Specialist, and Head of Qatarization outlined Qatalum’s goals for research partnerships and workforce development. This was followed by a session on Communications Expectations, where the Communications Manager and key stakeholders emphasized the role of academia in enhancing industry engagement and communication strategies. Later, the discussion on Operational Expectations, led by the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and operations leaders, explored how academic insights could contribute to process optimization and industrial innovation.
