Qatalum’s
National Mandate
Qatar’s National Vision aims that – by 2030 – Qatar becomes an advanced society capable of sustaining its development and providing a high standard of living for its people. Qatar’s National Vision defines the long-term goals for the country and provides a framework in which national strategies and implementation plans can be developed.
Qatalum’s contribution to Qatar National Vision 2030 are multi-faceted and have grown to include greater aspects of Qatar’s development.
The company’s sustainability framework fits into the four (4) pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030 as shown in the following figure:
Aluminium has significant advantages over other materials and must also be produced in a sustainable way at a life-cycle perspective. In order to ensure our ongoing performance in this area, Qatalum is aligning our sustainability approach with the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). ASI is a global non-profit standard setting and certification organization that has set out performance and chain-of-custody standards specifically for the aluminium industry. These two standards define requirements to address sustainability issues in the aluminium production and value chain.
Strong corporate governance, environmental performance, and contribution to society are fundamental principles of Qatalum. Qatalum recognizes that the requirements of sustainability demand continuous improvement in our processes and over-all performance. We are always committed to do better.
