  Milestones

  When Qatar Petroleum and Norsk Hydro ASA gave their final approval for the construction of a new primary aluminium plant on July 19 2007, it was one in a series of milestones for the Qatalum project. Following the foundation stone laying ceremony on November 19 2007, a number of new milestones will be passed during the next two years.

  Procurement

  The procurement of project materials, equipment and services is of vital importance to the successful development of Qatalum. Since the beginning of the project a number of engineering, procurement and construction contracts have been signed.

  Safety

  Safety is a top priority for the Qatalum project. We will remain alert, preventing injuries and avoiding work-related illnesses, property damage and production loss through our foresight. We will do our utmost to prevent and mitigate injury and damage should accidents occur.
