Qatalum achieves another milestone – ISO 9001:2008 Certification

The ISO 9001 standard includes a strong emphasis on customer service and satisfaction, and the standard criteria focus on continuous quality management practices in areas involving customer satisfaction and internal processes and systems.

Said Haugan: “Receiving ISO 9001:2008 Certification is a significant milestone for Qatalum, confirming our drive to continuously improve the Qatalum Production System, our very own quality management system. It is also a particularly impressive accomplishment given the fact that the auditing and certification process took place in the middle of ramp-up, which could have made the process impossible. However, thanks to the hard work of all involved, we have now received our certification, and are looking forward to the next milestone.”

The certification audit performed by DNV assessed Qatalum’s compliance with the ISO 9001:2008 standard, examining the quality management system, management responsibility, resource management, the product/ service realisation process, and measurement, analysis and improvement.

It is important to reach the highest standards possible while planning to develop our work processes. Attaining ISO 9001 certification is to attests an effective and efficient management practices throughout Qatalum and enhance our competitive edge in markets in the future.

This certification is expected to bring Qatalum to a new horizon in terms of its market, as well as meeting the registration requirements of the London Metal Exchange (LME) and forming part of the three-phase QPS roadmap to certification.

DNV’s contract with Qatalum also covers TS16949 (Automotive Standard) quality certification and training. Additionally, Qatalum intend to pursue integrated management system that includes ISO14001 (Environment) and OHSAS18001 (Safety) certification.
