On health, safety and environment issues Qatalum will demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and openness towards our employees, customers and the communities where we operate.
The aluminium smelter and power plant will therefore be designed in accordance with the highest inherent environmental, working environment and safety standards. Our objective here is to be at the forefront of the industry, while at the same time meeting the operating goals set for the plant.
Project execution objectives
The plant will be designed and built to achieve the combined objectives of personnel health, process safety, environmental protection and production regularity.
The project will ensure the implementation of all the requirements and commitments described in the Environmental Impact Assessment report.
A good work environment in all premises will be ensured throughout the project by proper planning, specifications, sufficient allocation of resources and by verification of the working conditions.
During the construction phase, Qatalum aims to effectuate the project with zero injuries by means of:
• Selection of qualified contractors
• Adequate personnel training
• Development of adequate work procedures
• Continuous improvement of HSE performance
